"I regret saying some things I shouldn't have said," Bush told CNN's Heidi Collins when asked to reflect on his regrets over his two terms as president. "Like 'Dead or Alive' and 'Bring 'em on.' My wife reminded me that, hey, as president of the United States be careful what you say."
*facepalm*
So no thoughts on the lack of WMD, involving us in an unwinnable war, costly both in hundreds of billions of dollars, millions of dead Iraqis, thousands of dead soldiers, and thousands more at home with appalling mental and physical problems, some of whom will be committing suicide and violence and murder over the coming years, not canning Rumsfeld or Gonzalez sooner, the worst economic crisis anyone alive has ever seen, eroding citizens' rights via the Patriot Act, enhancing the ability of corporations run roughshod over environment, small business, and customer, as well as assuring America is seen an embarrassment and a big, dumb bully throughout the globe. Did I leave anything out, sir? Mission Accomplished.

"We can't be lulled into complacency," Broun said. "You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany. I'm not comparing him to Adolf Hitler. What I'm saying is there is the potential."
So you're not comparing him to Hitler.. but you're comparing him to Hitler.

Liking the shuffle so far. Got it this afternoon, loaded up 200 songs for the gym, charged in a half hour just before I left and stayed playing and clipped to my sweatshirt all the way through the drive home.
Speaking of the gym. Ow. I remember telling myself I was going to take it easy for a while and get back into it at a reasonable rate, but I did not do that today. I expect an upcoming exciting weekend of reading in bed, as any further movement beyond food and bathroom will be rejected as unacceptable. (32 pages into Player Piano. No outstanding excerpts to share.. yet.)
I'd like to mention it took me approximately 4 work days to go from completely uninterested and bored of this girl at work to finding ways to spend time talking with her when it became apparent all bosses were off the premises. Pathetic. I need better alternatives that are available via foot, rail, or wheel, and not jet plane.
And finally, note to self, never fly British Airways. (Unless it's cheap and I'm feeling like a risk taker that day.)

It's been a week since my last confession. Probably time to update, as shallow and uninviting as it'll surely turn out to be..
Firstly, a predictable weather update. It's humid and gross out, and not raining. And a high of 89 tomorrow. Do not want.
I've been playing with Twitter the last few days. If you do not know what that is, I suggest you stay away. It is clearly a sickness that is twitterrific. (Thanks
beckon_you_on) Something called aerogel is going to save the world, so whatever you're worrying about it's all going to be okay. Rudy Giuliani's 17 year old daughter is of course supporting Barack Obama. And that is one hairy Chinaman. What kind of world do we live in that can't take some of that hair off his arms and put it on his head? Six Apart is being dumb again and censoring journals. But honestly, if people are going to come out of the woodwork and flood
news creating 5000 posts with content like this, I am all for it.
(By doing that I was just able to clear 5 tabs out of Safari. Tomorrow's impending iMac update might also bring me a new camera.)
And finally, thanks to those who kept me company today via AIM. The day flew by like no other. Only four days to go.. Y'all are the best.
(edit: I completely forgot about Rick Astley.)

CNN's response Michael Moore
I like Michael Moore. I haven't seen Sicko yet, but he needs to leave CNN alone and concentrate on keeping scrutiny on some other 'news' entities instead.

Okay, legitimately sore today. It's of the vague, annoying, all-over sort, with a few hotspots. It's warm and humid and I feel tired, even with the occasional small nap. I've been continuously starved all day and eating often with little relief. Signs of times to come, I think. Looks like I'm going shopping after work and gym tomorrow night. As of yesterday, I'm shooting baskets in the yard again. This is something I used to do all the time from the age of 12 on, but stopped doing a few years ago because of my knee. I sank my first basket from 15 feet away, so I'm glad that hasn't left me. I'm going to try and do less treadmill, more elliptical, and strengthen the area and try and get it feeling as healthy as possible again. That should do wonders. (And plenty of stretching, too.)
I've been geeking out a little bit today, adding new LJ communities to keep me entertained and informed daily. Then I installed NetNewsWire and have been adding and reading RSS feeds. That should keep me occupied for a while.
I have to call the airline tomorrow and see if my non-refundable ticket to San Diego for the 25th can be saved for a later date, likely with a fee. I know I'm going to be cranky for next few weeks and onward being stuck working all my summer days away, but I'll make sure I put those days to good use, and try and plan something even better and more worthwhile for Septemberish. (Post-Labor Day would be cheaper.)

My PC at work was doing odd things the last hour or so, which made me slightly mad/stressed at the time, but I'm over it now. I've always been adept at leaving work at work, with the exception of the last few weeks, and that gets me in trouble, so more of the aloof me during and after hours. A few people ordered lunch today from some new Greek place nobody had eaten before. I went right for the healthy choices of spaghetti ala vodka and caesar's salad, both of which were delish. (Did I just say that?)
If I want to be smooth and opportunistic, I should go after that gym membership now, and offer to be the occasional ride for That Girl (formerly known as Cute Girl, sometimes known to me as That Person That Drives Me Insane Without Talking). It couldn't be for the fantastic health benefits it would provide, but rather for the opportunity to ferry a pretty girl to and fro, for .0000001% chance it could lead somewhere else. Hey, there was that that one impromptu lunch date after 4+ years. You never know. (The statistical probability of that is about the same as the New York State Lottery jackpot.) It's.. difficult.. being a boy. *grumble*
And can '08 come soon enough?:

Now that I'm up (again), may as well update.
Today? Can just end. Oh, it did. Glad that's taken care of.
Firstly, the weather, horrible. Icy/rainy/snowy this morning, then all ice on the way home (including a nice layer on my car) accompanied by wind and more awfulness. At work, the power went out three times. The last for a half hour or so. The second time it took out the power supply on one PC, an important one, so I had to do surgery on it to get it to work again. It also took out the software on the PC we use to process UPS shipments, so I spent about 2 hours on the phone with UPS trying to get it to work again, only realize their tech support is about the most horrible thing in life, I knew more than they did about their own crappy software, and, after getting disconnected, was able to fix it all myself.
Boo V Day!
In other news, I asked one of my co-workers when he'd be going back to England (he's from London), and he said he'd booked a trip back as of last week for the end of December/early January. He also said the round trip ticket cost him $580 per person. (He's married with child.) I looked today and the cheapest I found was $701 ($750 on Virgin's site), so I'm going to wait, but if I get a decent deal (as in $600 or so) I'll be going to London. The possibility of that is almost enough to balance this day out. Almost.
